Lockdown, her friend!
She lives alone in the countryside
She lost her husband, her true friend, 30 years ago
Life has never been a bed of roses for her
Her only trips, walk to grocery store, walk to pharmacist,
Or visit to her physician for regular medical checkups
Her kids live far in the city
She hears from them, only on festivals
But, all of a sudden her life has changed !
Every other day she gets a call from kids
Her grandchildren FaceTime her
They ask, “how are you surviving the lockdown?”
She wonders, what is it?
Oh the news, she heard of a virus, forcing everyone indoors
Perhaps, she has been in the lockdown for the past 30 years
But this “Lockdown” seems a blessing
She hears birds, not the noisy traffic
She hasn’t left her own longtime companions, her pen and paper
But yes, she needs some extra time to talk to those who were very busy before
For sure, she is among those few who are not new to it
Lockdown has been her longtime friend
She seems unaffected by it, at least for now
