360 The Restaurant at the CN Tower, Toronto
In Short:
In my opinion it’s about the whole experience rather than just food. Climbing up the CN tower, looking down through lookup glass from 350m high, enjoying a meal on rotating floor and coming outside to feel some super high winds are all parts of expereince. I wouldn’t necessarily go there for food but I would go there to make a occasion memorable. If you are going to enjoy some good food, you are more likely to be disappointed, but you for sure will remember the whole experience.
The Whole Experience:
A revolving restaurant at 350 meters high in one of the most livable cities in world ( Toronto). Who wouldn’t want to experience that! Whether it’s your loved one’s birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion, this definitely seems like the place to be. Dinning floor slowly rotates while you are enjoying meal with your loved ones. Elevation to CN tower and lookout floor is included as part of your reservation which normally costs about $35.00 bucks if you just want to visit CN tower. So yes, you could just go up CN tower and not go to restaurant but I would say restaurant has it’s own charm.
My wife recently moved to Canada and it was our first anniversary so I definitely wanted to do something special, so I decided to take her for dinner at 360 Restaurant in Toronto. I called to make reservation, it was a weekday night so table was available. I do suggest to reserve early especially if it’s summer as tables tend to sell out quickly. We went in June but I bet this would be equally exciting in Winter time too. Although if it’s too cold you won’t be able to go to outside deck which is amazing so I would suggest summer or fall is better time to visit. Place is open for lunch and Dinner, but I think evening time is best time to go as you can enjoy all the lighting from top, Toronto looks amazing at night time from sky. If you or your partner is afraid of heights, don’t worry, it’s completely safe. If you are afraid of heights, you will still enjoy dining at restaurant.
[the_ad id=”470″]We reached there about 30 mins early and at the ground floor we were greeted with friendly staff. They gave us slips to enter escalator and go up to CN Tower. This was all surprise to my wife so she didn’t know where we are going ( she had no idea there is a restaurant at top of the world!). Elevator was going up and up and through the elevator glass we could see these massive condo buildings looking smaller and smaller. My wife was completely surprised as where we were going. We reached up and there was still 10-15 mins to our reservation so we decided to take a walk around. We reached the glass lookout panel and could see the few buildings through this, it was exciting and little bit scary at the same time. We spent few mins there until it was time for our reservation.
Friendly waitress came and took us to our table, it was right by side of window so we could see the entire city. When we sat we were towards the lake and it was dark so we couldn’t see much outside, but slowly and slowly floor was rotating and we were moving towards the city, so we could see all the lightening, highway, buildings etc which you could otherwise only see from a plane, so it was pretty cool.
After the dinner we came back to lookout glass again and enjoy few more moments there. After that we came outside in open and being at 350M high it was super windy and little chilly. There is giant fence when you are outside so it’s super safe to come outside. CN tower lights were changing and when lights was falling on us, it felt pretty cool. Once lights were pink, then blue, green and some other colors, we spent some good 30-45 mins there enjoying ourselves and celebrating our special night.
Food :
They offer pre-fix menu, you could either choose 2 course or 3 course dinner. We both decided to take 2 course dinner and picked starters which we could share. To be honest quality of food wasn’t greatest. My wife ordered vegetation dish and it was okay, nothing the greatest. Usually at fine dining restaurants quantity of food is so little but to our surprise they offered decent quantity of meals so that was nice. Overall I wouldn’t say it’s the greatet food you will eat, in my opinion food was nothing memorable.
I think we were completely submerged into experience and quality of food became secondary. Looking through side glass, looking down the city and recognizing various places was great fun. As floor was slowly rotating, we were seeing different places, different lights and everything was looking so small. Overall service was really good and staff was very nice, they clearly explained what each dish is and what does it contain.
So Should I go ?
Short answer is yes, I would say you should enjoy it at-least once and pick some very special occasion to make it memorable. The whole experience is definitely worthwhile the cost. Even though you could just go up CN tower and enjoy most of it, trying 360 restaurant is worth every penny. Eating on a rotating table while sitting on top of world is definitely worth considering. I wouldn’t go there every other month but I think it’s definitely worth going once in few years.
